Located at 195 Alexander Street, the significance of the design and location of this cornerstone building serves not only as the gateway to the genesis of Gastown more than a hundred years ago but continues to stand proud as a landmark on Vancouver’s waterfront.
This pillar of brick and timber occupies one of the most culturally-significant sites during initial trade between settlers and indigenous traders who would arrive at Crab Beach by canoe with their bounty of furs and other natural resources. ONE NINETY FIVE presides over the literal birthplace of what is now known as Vancouver. A fitting venue for an organization that plays a first-hand role in the shaping of future cities.
